BELHYDROMET

On September 15, Belhydromet became a venue for an educational excursion: the institution was visited by 3rd-year students of the specialty "Biology and Geography" of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank.

The visit took place within the framework of the educational practice of future teachers. Its program is aimed at developing students' fundamental practical competencies. During the practice, students master the skills of independent collection, measurement, office processing and comprehensive analysis of hydrometeorological data, taking into account the landscape-climatic and water-resource features of the Republic of Belarus — this will help future teachers of geography and biology to correctly present these topics at school and demonstrate their applied significance.

During the excursion, the students got acquainted with certain areas of Belhydromet's work. They were told about the activities of the aviation-meteorological support service — this service plays an important role in ensuring flight safety by providing accurate and timely meteorological data for aviation.

Special attention was paid to the work of the radiation monitoring service: the students learned how constant monitoring of the radiation situation on the territory of the country is carried out.

The students also got acquainted with the work of the meteorological forecast service. They were shown how weather forecasts are formed — from the collection of primary data to their processing and interpretation.

The excursion allowed the students to see how theoretical knowledge acquired at the university is embodied in real professional activity. Familiarity with the practical aspects of the work of the hydrometeorological service will help future teachers make their lessons more visual and interesting, linking the educational material with current processes occurring in nature.

Belhydromet traditionally pays attention to educational work and interaction with educational institutions: such meetings contribute to the popularization of hydrometeorological knowledge and help young people better navigate professions related to the study and forecasting of the state of the environment.
