On 9 October 2026, the 82nd meeting of the joint board of the Union State Committee on Hydrometeorology and Environmental Pollution Monitoring (Soyuzkomgidromet) continued its work.
The second day of the meeting was devoted to practical familiarization with the production potential of a Belarusian enterprise and to a cultural programme, which served as a logical conclusion to the busy business agenda considered the day before.
The morning began with the participants of the board travelling to the open joint-stock company Peleng — one of the leading enterprises of the Republic of Belarus in the field of development and production of high-precision optoelectronic and meteorological equipment.

It was noted that OJSC Peleng is actively developing the area of automated intelligent systems, which are already successfully operated at the Gomel aerodrome and demonstrate high reliability under real operating conditions. This is particularly relevant in the context of the tasks set before the hydrometeorological services of the two countries for the modernization of the observation network and the transition to modern domestic technologies.
The participants of the meeting then proceeded to the historical and cultural complex "Stalin's Line", located in the Minsk district. This memorial complex, created on the basis of real fortifications of the Minsk fortified area, is one of the most visited historical sites in Belarus. A guided tour was conducted for the guests from Russia and Belarus, during which they became acquainted with the exhibition of military equipment, engineering structures and the history of the defensive fortifications of the 1930s-1940s. The visit to the complex became not only an educational but also a symbolic event, emphasizing the common historical heritage of the fraternal peoples and their shared memory of the defence of the Fatherland.

On the whole, the 82nd meeting of the joint board of the Soyuzkomgidromet demonstrated a high level of interaction between the hydrometeorological services of Russia and Belarus. The agreements reached and decisions adopted create a solid basis for further strengthening cooperation, introducing advanced technologies and improving the quality of hydrometeorological services to the population and sectors of the economy of the Union State. The events held as part of the second day clearly confirmed that cooperation goes far beyond official protocols, relying on a common history, cultural ties and the aspiration for technological sovereignty.
