Overview of the river water regime in June. Forecast information on minimum water levels in July

At the beginning of June, a decline in water levels prevailed on the rivers. Rainfall at the end of the first ten-day period caused water levels to rise on most rivers across the country, as a result of which, on the Viliya near the agrotown of Sheshitsy, the Iput River near the town of Dobrush (a tributary of the Sozh), the Sushanka River near the village of Susha (a tributary of the Berezina), and the Sluch River near the village of Klepchany (a tributary of the Pripyat), water remained on the floodplain for a short period. From the end of the second ten-day period through the end of the month, a decline in water levels was observed on the rivers, and navigation conditions deteriorated on the navigable sections of the Dnieper, the Berezina near Bobruisk, and the Sozh near Gomel.

The minimum water levels in June were below the historical minima for this month in the lower reaches of the Neman, its tributary the Shchara, the Mukhavets River (a tributary of the Western Bug), in the upper reaches of the Pripyat, as well as its tributaries the Pina, Yaselda, and Horyn.

The water content of the Western Dvina and the Pripyat is half the usual for this time of year; that of the Neman, Viliya, Dnieper, Berezina, and Sozh is close to normal and somewhat below it.

Currently, a decline in water levels is observed on the rivers. Unfavorable conditions for river transport operation are observed on the navigable sections of the Neman, the Dnieper, the Sozh, and the Berezina near Bobruisk.

Forecast information on minimum water levels in July

Minimum water levels on the rivers in July are expected to be below the long-term average values, and in the Pripyat and the lower reaches of the Neman – below the historical minima for this month.

On the Western Dvina near Vitebsk, the Berezina near Svetlogorsk, and the navigable sections of the Pripyat, conditions for river transport operation will deteriorate.
