The average air temperature in Belarus in August 2025 was +17.1°C, which is 0.9°C below the climatic norm. The average air temperature in all three decades of the month was below normal.
During the month, an average of 37 mm of precipitation fell in the republic, which was 58% of the climatic norm. There was a shortage of precipitation throughout the country, with the exception of individual observation points in the Vitebsk and Gomel regions.
By region, the most precipitation was recorded in the Vitebsk region, with an average of 56 mm or 79% of the norm. The lowest is in the Brest region – 22 mm or 37% of the norm. Precipitation shortages were observed in all three decades (44 to 65% of the precipitation rate fell).
In August, a decrease in water levels prevailed on the country's rivers. Unfavorable conditions for river transport were observed on the Neman near Grodno, the Dnieper near Mogilev, Rechitsa, Zhlobin, Loev, Berezina near Bobruisk and Svetlogorsk, the Sozh near Krichev and Slavgorod.
On the Neman tributary, the Ross river, and the Berezina tributary, the Bobr river, water levels exceeded the water outlet marks on the floodplain.
The water content of the rivers is mostly close to the usual for this time of year, and only the water content of the Berezina, the Sozh and the Dnieper in its lower reaches is higher than the norm by 30-40%.
The average monthly water temperature in the rivers was 15-20°C, which is 0.5-3.0°C lower than usual for this time of year.
