BELHYDROMET

On October 8, 2026, the 82nd meeting of the joint board of the Union State Committee on Hydrometeorology and Environmental Pollution Monitoring (Soyuzkomgidromet) was held in Minsk.

Before the start of the work, the participants of the meeting laid flowers at the monument on Victory Square.

The meeting was opened by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, Maksim Lysenko, the Head of Roshydromet, Igor Shumakov, the Deputy State Secretary of the Standing Committee of the Union State, Ivan Tsetsersky, the Chair of the Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia on Natural Resources, Ecology and Environmental Protection, Zhanna Chernyavskaya, the Deputy Chair of the Minsk City Executive Committee, Oleg Korzun, the Head of the Department for Cooperation in Emergency Situations of the Executive Committee of the CIS, Sergey Shparlo, and the Rector of BSUIR, Vadim Bogush.

The meeting was conducted by the Chair of the Joint Board — the Head of Roshydromet, Igor Shumakov, and the Deputy Chair — the Head of Belhydromet, Siarhei Khilman.

The Board considered nine issues covering a wide range of areas of cooperation in the field of hydrometeorology:
- satellite data in agrometeorology;
- automation of hydrological information processing;
- WMO Information System 2.0;
- information on the state of atmospheric air;
- development of the observation network under climate change;
- meteorological data from aircraft;
- the AMIS-PELENG system at Gomel airport;
- testing of meteorological equipment at test sites;
- reviewed the results of the competition for the best technician (engineer) - hydrologist of the Soyuzkomgidromet 2026.

It was noted that the decisions of previous meetings of the Joint Board with a deadline for implementation in the second half of 2026 have mainly been implemented. The draft Work Plan of the Joint Board for 2027 was approved. It was proposed to hold the 83rd meeting in the Russian Federation in May-June 2027, and the 84th in the Republic of Belarus in September-November 2027.

The Board expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, the staff of Belhydromet and BSUIR for their assistance in preparing and holding the meeting.
