Review of the water regime of rivers in September
In the first two decades of September, minor fluctuations in water levels were observed on the rivers of the country; in the third decade, a predominantly rise in water levels was observed on the rivers, caused by precipitation. Unfavorable conditions for the operation of river transport were observed on the navigable sections of the Western Dvina, Neman, Dnieper, Berezina, Sozh and Pripyat. On the tributary of the Neman, the Ross River near the village of Studenets, the water level exceeded the mark of water flowing onto the floodplain.
The water content of most rivers is close to normal and somewhat below it; only the water content of the Pripyat remains significantly lower than usual for this time of year.
At present, a rise in water levels predominates on the rivers, with an intensity mainly of 1-11 cm per day.
Unfavorable conditions for the operation of river transport are observed on the Neman near the city of Grodno, the Dnieper near the city of Mogilev, the city of Zhlobin, the city of Rechitsa and the urban settlement of Loev, the Berezina near the city of Bobruisk and the city of Svetlogorsk, the Sozh near the city of Krichev, the city of Slavgorod and the city of Gomel, the Pripyat near the village of Chernichi and the city of Mozyr.
Forecast information on minimum water levels in October
Minimum water levels in October are forecast to be mainly close to and somewhat below the long-term average values for the observation period, while in the lower reaches of the Sozh and on the Pripyat, minimum water levels are expected to be close to and below the lowest values for October.
