Flights in difficult weather conditions

Despite the difficult weather conditions, namely heavy snow and a blizzard, RUE Minsk National Airport continues to operate normally.

All specialised equipment is deployed for clearing snow from the runway and the entire airfield to ensure the operation of both scheduled and charter flights. It is becoming more difficult to clean the runway from constantly falling snow, as well as by moving it to already cleared areas. However, flight delays in such weather are minimal, as airport services work in a coordinated manner and clear the runway between flight operations.

The service for aviation meteorological supply of Belhydromet plays a major role by promptly monitoring, analysing, and forecasting weather phenomena and conditions hazardous to aviation. In adverse weather conditions, the service's meteorological technicians provide minute-by-minute information on actual weather to RUE Minsk National Airport.
