Day of the State Symbols of the Republic of Belarus: Day of the State Flag, State Coat of Arms and State Anthem

On May 10, 2026, the Republic of Belarus celebrates the Day of the State Flag, State Coat of Arms and State Anthem.

This significant national holiday, established by Decree No. 157 of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated March 26, 1998, is held annually on the second Sunday of May.

An important step in developing the tradition of the holiday was taken on April 12, 2023, when the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, signed Decree No. 105, amending the previous legal act. The name of the holiday was expanded: from the "Day of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus and the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus" it received its current name – the "Day of the State Flag, State Coat of Arms, and State Anthem of the Republic of Belarus." This change emphasizes the equal importance of all three state symbols and allows due respect to be paid to each of them. Details can be found on president.gov.by.

State symbols – the flag, coat of arms and anthem – are integral attributes of any sovereign state. They express its political independence and sovereignty, reflect the centuries‑old history of its formation and development, as well as the unique national identity of its people.

For Belarus, as an independent state, these symbols hold special significance. The coat of arms, flag, and anthem of the Republic of Belarus are not merely official insignia. They embody the nation's greatest achievements, convey its rich historical and cultural heritage, and emphasize the national spirit and dignity of every Belarusian citizen. These symbols carry deep meaning, reflecting key aspects of the country's history, values and aspirations.

On the Day of the State Flag, State Coat of Arms, and State Anthem, ceremonial events are held: flag‑raising ceremonies, concerts featuring the performance of the anthem, exhibitions, and educational activities. This fosters respect for the homeland, strengthens a sense of pride and promotes unity.
