On 29 October, a video conference meeting was held with specialists from the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) on the implementation of the MAZU system.
For reference. The MAZU system is a Chinese integrated intelligent solution for building early warning capacity within the UN initiative "Early Warning for All." The system is built on the Cloud Early Warning Platform (CEWS) and integrates data from Fengyun meteorological satellites, the results of China's leading numerical forecasting models and artificial intelligence models for meteorological forecasts.
On the Belarusian side, the event was attended by First Deputy Head of Belhydromet Tatsiana Chаtyrka, Head of the Meteorological Service Marina Gritskevich and her deputy Marina Luksha, Head of the Hydrology and Agrometeorology Service Ekaterina Istomina, Deputy Head of the Software Support Service Irina Kunets, weather forecasters of the Department of Short-Term Weather Forecasts and Adverse and Hazardous Phenomena, and programmers of Belhydromet.
During the conversation, the First Deputy Head of Belhydromet expressed sincere gratitude to the China Meteorological Administration for the opportunity to improve the professional qualifications of specialists at their institutions and to develop forecasting in the Republic of Belarus.
In turn, the Chinese colleagues presented the technical features and advantages of the MAZU system, gave examples of its use in countries such as Nepal, Sri Lanka and Ethiopia, and clearly demonstrated the key parameters of the platform.

Belhydromet specialists were able to ask questions of interest regarding the functional capabilities of the system, its customization to the climatic conditions of Belarus, as well as issues of technical support and personnel training.
This meeting is of great importance for Belhydromet, as it represents an important step towards improving the processing of meteorological information based on artificial intelligence. The implementation of the MAZU system will make it possible to improve the accuracy and timeliness of forecasts of hazardous hydrometeorological phenomena, as well as to strengthen the capacity of the national hydrometeorological service in the field of early warning.
