On November 3, an off-site educational session in the format of a lecture-excursion was held at Belhydromet.
The event took place within the framework of the "BSU Student for a Week" project and brought together two audiences at once: first-year students of the Hydrometeorology specialty at the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformatics of the Belarusian State University, as well as 10th–11th grade students of general secondary education institutions.
The topic of the session was "The Hydrometeorological Service of the Republic of Belarus. Legal Support for Hydrometeorological Activities." The session was conducted as part of the academic discipline "Introduction to Hydrometeorology" and was aimed at familiarizing the participants with the history, structure, and key areas of Belhydromet's work.
The program of the session was rich and varied. The introduction to the hydrometeorological service began with a visit to the Belhydromet Museum: here, students and schoolchildren were able to trace how the country's hydrometeorological service developed, see instruments from past years, and learn about the most important stages in the formation of the industry.

The practical part of the excursion allowed participants to look "behind the scenes" of modern meteorological work. The participants visited an automatic meteorological site and got acquainted with the equipment that records key weather parameters on a daily basis. The radar aroused particular interest: a specialist explained how modern technologies help track atmospheric phenomena and improve forecast accuracy.

An important part of the program was a visit to the meteorological forecasting service. Here, the young people learned how weather forecasters analyze data and what models and methods they use to prepare forecasts. Such an inside look helps to better understand how multifaceted and responsible the profession of a meteorologist is.

An interactive quiz helped reinforce the knowledge gained. In a game format, the participants figured out the color code of hazard levels and also learned more about the principles of hydrometeorological safety and how the service informs the public about adverse and hazardous phenomena.

The excursion became not just a formal lesson, but a lively dialogue between the future and the present of hydrometeorological science: students saw how theoretical knowledge is put into practice in real work, while schoolchildren were able to take a fresh look at the profession and perhaps reflect on their own career path. Such events help build the industry's human resource potential and strengthen the connection between educational institutions and the specialized service.
