102 years on guard for safety: Belhydromet marks a significant date

Today, July 1, the State Hydrometeorological Service of the Republic of Belarus celebrates the 102nd anniversary of its founding. This is not just a date – it is a history of the development of science and technology, inextricably linked with the needs of the country.

"Over its more than century-long history, the service has come a long way – from the first observations and modest weather stations to modern technologies, automated data collection systems, and sophisticated forecasting models."

Today, Belhydromet is an extensive network of observation points, state-of-the-art equipment, and, most importantly, a team of highly qualified specialists. Meteorologists, weather forecasters, hydrologists, agrometeorologists, climatologists, environmental specialists, radiometrists, and chemists – these are people whose dedication and professionalism allow us to look to the future with confidence, predicting not only the weather for the coming days but also assessing long-term climate trends.

Today, Belhydromet is a well-coordinated team of professionals equipped with cutting-edge tools and deep expertise. Every day, specialists monitor weather changes, issue warnings about hazardous and adverse phenomena, provide data to key economic sectors, and help people plan their activities with due regard for the whims of nature.

The importance of Belhydromet's work can hardly be overstated. Flight safety, river transport, the efficient operation of agriculture, energy, and many other sectors of the economy depend on accurate forecasts. In addition, timely warnings about dangerous and adverse hydrometeorological phenomena help minimize damage and save lives.

On its 102nd birthday, Belhydromet is not resting on its laurels. We continue to introduce innovative technologies, expand scientific research, and improve forecasting methods to ensure the utmost timeliness and reliability of information for all citizens of the Republic of Belarus.

On this festive day, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all employees of the service – both to those who conduct daily observations, and to those who analyze data, and to those who deliver forecasts to users. Your work goes unnoticed when everything runs smoothly, but it is precisely this work that helps prevent accidents, save harvests, ensure transport safety, and protect people's lives.

Special words of appreciation go to the veterans of the service, who laid the foundation for today's achievements and passed on their knowledge and traditions of conscientious work to young specialists. Their experience is an invaluable legacy that continues to live on in the work of new generations of hydrometeorologists.

Dear colleagues, dear veterans, and all who have connected their lives with the Hydrometeorological Service!
We wholeheartedly congratulate you on the 102nd anniversary of the State Hydrometeorological Service of the Republic of Belarus! Your work is a daily contribution to the safety and well-being of our country. Thank you for your dedication to the cause, for your accuracy and responsibility, and for your readiness to work in any conditions. May your forecasts remain as accurate as ever, and may your work be duly appreciated.
We wish you good health, new professional achievements, and, of course, fine weather – not only in your work but also in your life!
Happy holiday!
