During the past period (from 1 to 4 May), water levels on rivers were generally decreasing, as a result of which, on the Dnieper River near the town of Rechitsa, the water level dropped below the mark at which water overflows onto the floodplain.
As of 5 May, a decrease in water levels is observed on most rivers of the country, with an intensity of up to 14 cm per day.
Water remains on the floodplain on the Dnieper River near the town of Zhlobin and the urban settlement of Loyev, as well as on the Sozh River's tributary, the Iput River.
On the Neman River near the city of Grodno, the water level is below the mark at which difficulties in river transport operations are noted.
Water temperature has risen and ranges from 6.7°C to 16°C in rivers, and from 9.6°C to 16°C in reservoirs.
Over the next five days, a decrease in water levels will continue on the rivers. As a result, on the Dnieper River near the town of Zhlobin, floodplain lands will be free of floodwaters, while on the Sozh River near the towns of Krichev and Slavgorod, water levels will approach and may reach the marks that limit navigation. Water temperature will continue to rise.
