Overview of hydrological situation of May 15, 2024
In the past period (May 11-14), a decrease in spring flood water levels was noted on the rivers, as a result of which the floodplain lands were partially freed from flood waters, and on the Neman near Grodno the water level dropped below a dangerously low level at which difficulties arise in the operation of river transport.
As of May 15, water levels are decreasing everywhere on rivers. The depth of flooding of floodplain lands in the basins of the Dnieper is up to 204 cm, of the Sozh - up to 95 cm, of the Pripyat - up to 76 cm, of the Berezina - up to 15 cm.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations flooding of coastal areas in the Gomel and Brest regions persists.
On the Neman river near Grodno the water level is below the dangerous level for navigation.
The water temperature has increased and ranges in rivers from 8.6°C to 17°C, in reservoirs - from 13°C to 16°C.
In the coming days the decline in water levels on the rivers will continue, as a result of which on the Berezina near Berezino, the Sozh near Slavgorod and the Pripyat tributary Stviga River at the village Korotichi the water will enter the riverbed shortly.
