Overview of hydrological situation of January, 5 2024
Currently, ice formation processes have resumed in connection with a decrease in air temperature on the rivers. Almost everywhere on the rivers there are snowdrifts, in some areas of the Western Dvina, the Berezina and the Sozh, their individual tributaries, as well as some tributaries of the Dnieper and the Pripyat, ice formation and ice formation with polynyas are noted. There is an ice sheet 7-12 cm thick on lakes and reservoirs, but the ice is not homogeneous, there are spaces with an open water surface. It is dangerous to go out on the ice.
Fluctuations in water levels with a daily intensity of up to 89 cm are observed on rivers due to ice jams. On most rivers water levels exceed the water outlet marks on the floodplain.
On the Sozh tributary of the Pronya River near the village Letyagi, tributaries of the Pripyat river Ptich at the village of Persha Slobodka and Sluch at agrotown Lenin water levels exceed dangerously high levels.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations flooding of bridges and sections of highways is noted in some areas of the Gomel and Mogilev regions.
In the coming days fluctuations in water levels on rivers will persist, ice formation processes will continue.
