Overview of hydrological situation of January 20, 2023
In the past day, on the tributary of the Zapadny Bug, the Mukhavets river near Brest, the Berezina near Bobruisk, its tributary the Beaver River near village Kuta and Pripyat near the town of Petrikov, the water came out on the floodplain. Opened Sozh in the area of Gomel and Pripyat in the area of Narovlya, as well as separate tributaries of the Zapadnaya Dvina and Dnieper.
Currently, glaciation with polynyas and streams from 5 cm to 16 cm thick is observed on the Zapadnaya Dvina near the town of Surazh and the settlement Ulla, the Dnieper on the Mogilev – Zhlobin section, the Sozh on the Krichev – Slavgorod section, some of their tributaries, as well as throughout the Berezina. On the lakes Lukomskoye, Drivyaty, Naroch, Chervonoye, the reservoirs Vileyskoye, Chigirinskoye, Zaslavskoye, Soligorskoye, Krasnaya Sloboda, there is ice formation and incomplete ice formation with a thickness of 9 cm to 18 cm, however, strips with an open water surface appeared along the shores. It is extremely dangerous to go out and move on the ice!
On the rivers, there is an increase in water levels with an intensity of 1-49 cm per day. On most rivers, the water is on the floodplain.
On the Sozh tributary of the Pronya river at village Letyagi the water level is 27 cm higher than the dangerously high mark, there is an increase in the water level with an intensity of 3 cm per day. Water levels are close to dangerously high levels on the Berezina near Bobruisk, Pripyat near the village of Chernichi and Petrikov, its tributaries of the Sluch River near the settlement Lenin and Ptich near village Persha Slobodka, there is an increase in water levels.
River flooding persists in some areas of Vitebsk, Gomel and Mogilev regions.
In the coming days, weather conditions will contribute to the melting and destruction of the ice cover on the rivers, the increase in water levels will continue. On Pripyat near the town of Petrikov, its tributaries the rivers Sluch at settlement Lenin and Ptich near village Persha Slobodka water levels will reach dangerously high levels.
