Climatic characteristics of the 2025 summer season

During the summer season of 2025, the national average air temperature was +17.8°C, which is 0.2°C below the climatic norm. Such and lower average temperatures of the summer season have not been observed since 2017.

In most of the country, there was a negative anomaly in air temperature, which was in the range of 0.1-0.5°C. A small positive anomaly was noted at some stations in the Vitebsk, Grodno, Mogilev and Brest regions.

In the regional context, the highest values of negative air temperature anomalies were noted in the Minsk region (0.4°C), the lowest in the Vitebsk, Mogilev and Brest regions (on average 0.1°C for each region), in the Grodno region the temperature background corresponded to the norm.
Over the past summer, there were from 17 to 46 hot days (with an air temperature of +25°C and above), with a norm of 29-59 days and from 1 to 10 very hot days (with an air temperature of +30 ° C and above) at a rate of 1-13 days.
The maximum temperature (+34.6°C) reached on July 3 at Brest station. The minimum air temperature is marked at the Klichev station on August 28, it was +2.1°C.
The temperature regime of the summer season was heterogeneous: the average temperature in June and August was 0.4°C and 0.9°C below normal, respectively. July had a positive anomaly of 0.9°C.

The average air temperature in Belarus for June 2025 was +16.6°C, which is 0.4°C lower than the climatic norm. The temperature regime in June was uneven, the weather was characterized by its instability and contrasting temperatures. The maximum temperature (+31.7°C) reached on June 6 at the stations of Lelchitsy and Bragin. The minimum air temperature was recorded at Malorita station on June 23 and was +3.9°C.
The average air temperature in Belarus in July 2025 was +19.8°C, which is 0.9°C higher than the climatic norm. Such a warmer July happens noticeably once every 7 years. The maximum temperature (+34.6°C) reached on July 3 at Brest station. The minimum air temperature was recorded at Polesskaya station on July 6 and was +6.9°C. On some days, tropical nights were recorded in places across the country (the minimum air temperature per night was +20°C or more). 
The average air temperature in Belarus in August 2025 was +17.1°C, which is 0.9°C below the climatic norm. Such and lower average monthly temperatures in August have not been observed since 2009. The maximum temperature (+33.3°C) reached on the afternoon of August 31 at Soligorsk and Oktyabrsky stations. The minimum air temperature was recorded at Klichev station on August 28 and was +2.1°C.
During the summer season of 2025, an average of 259 mm of precipitation fell in Belarus, which is 115% of the climatic norm. 100-130% of the seasonal precipitation rate fell in most of the territory.

In the regional context, the highest amount of precipitation during the season fell in the Minsk region – 295 mm, or 127% of the climatic norm. The least amount of precipitation fell in the Brest region – 219 mm or 100% of the climatic norm.

Precipitation was extremely uneven throughout the season. In June and July, there was an excess of precipitation: 129% and 144% of the climatic norm fell, respectively. In August, there was a shortage of precipitation (58% of the norm fell).

During the season, there were from 27 to 43 rainy days (with precipitation per day of 1 mm or more) with a norm of 24-32 days.

June was quite humid. It rained often. On average, 93 mm of precipitation fell in the republic, which was 129% of the climatic norm. Precipitation spread unevenly across the country. In most parts of the country, 100-180% of the normal precipitation fell. 
In July, 129 mm of precipitation fell on average in the republic, which was 144% of the climatic norm. Excess precipitation was observed in most of the country. 
In August, an average of 37 mm of precipitation fell in the republic, which was 58% of the climatic norm. There was a shortage of precipitation throughout the country, with the exception of individual observation points in the Vitebsk and Gomel regions. 
Fogs, thunderstorms, and hail were observed throughout the season, which in some places reached the criterion of a dangerous hydrometeorological phenomenon (20 mm or more). On June 5, hail with a diameter of 20 mm was recorded at the Maryina Gorka station. The rains were mainly torrential, in some places they reached the criterion of a dangerous phenomenon: very heavy rain up to 94 mm (Malevichskaya Rudnya) and very heavy downpour up to 39.5 mm (Berezino station). There was an increase in wind speed with gusts of up to 15 m/s or more, including heavy winds, which in some places reached the criterion of a dangerous hydrometeorological phenomenon (25 m/s or more). The maximum wind speed for the summer season was recorded at Mogilev station on July 10 (26 m/s), and a very strong wind was observed at Osterkhodun on July 11 - 10 points on the Beaufort scale (25-28 m/s).
