Review of the agrometeorological situation of September 26, 2018
Recent rains fulfilled moisture content in soil in many parts of the Republic. According to recent visual observation data, 10 cm topsoil is well moistened in most of Belarus. Overmoistening is registered in some areas, mainly with heavy soil and in the lowlands. Agrometeorological conditions for soil treatment, winter cereal crops sowing and harvesting are complicated.
Because of frost risk, it is not recommended to leave without coverage agricultural crops on the fields. Frost could damage leaves of maize that would affect the quality of harvested silage. Harvesting of maize grains (for seeds) must be finished.
After rains water availability of winter crops ameliorated significantly. However, predominance of decreased temperature in the coming days will be deterrence for their development.
