Review of the agrometeorological situation of September 16, 2019
This year agrometeorological conditions for maize harvest formation are better than average multiyear year’s. However, uneven available warmth influenced the development of this plant during vegetation period. Sowings were influenced by June drought in some areas with light soils.
Warm deficit in July and early August slows development of this plant. Maize maturation has started with slippage from last year values. In the 2nd decade of August, wax ripeness was registered in southern regions and till the end of August – in the remain areas of the country. Farms has started maize harvest fork for silage. Warm weather mainly without precipitations contributes to grain maturation: complete ripeness was observed in most observed fields in southern part of the country. Grain harvest has started.
In late September because of expected rains and temperature decrease, conditions for grain drying and harvest works won’t be favorable enough. Frost expected in the end of this week may damage maize leaves in some areas.
