Review of the agrometeorological situation of February 22, 2019
According to recent data, soil is thawed or there is few subfreezing of topsoil on most of the Republic. Only according to data of certain meteorological stations, thickness of frozen soil layer was 10-22 cm in the end of second decade of February, up to 35 cm – in the north-east.
Soil temperature at depth of tillering of winter cereal crops node is above optimal values. Ice crust on soil is observed on the fields.
Despite ice cover absence in many areas, brief cooling for winter cereal crops is not dangerous. There are some concerns concerning winter rape in those areas where there is no snow cover.
