Review of the agrometeorological situation of August 6, 2019

According to recent observational data, blossom of potato has finished everywhere, natural top flagging was registered on early-ripening and midseason-ripening sorts. Visual assessment of potato state are good. However, rainy weather creates conditions for late blight requiring fungicidal treatment.
Average tuber mass under one plant was less than last year as at the end of July on observed fields. Amount of tuber ranges from 10 to 17 under one plant.
According to recent observational data, average soil temperature at depth of 10 cm is close to optimal in most of the country. Mainly one third of tubers reached normal size, on some fields – it is a half of tubers.
In the coming days, moderate temperature and sufficient soil moisture will contribute to further growth of potato tuber.
