Review of the agrometeorological situation of August 21, 2018
Past rains refilled moist content in soil in the south-eastern part of the Belarus. According to recent visual observations data, good moisture of soil at depth of 10 cm is registered in most of Gomel region, in south-eastern and north-western parts of Minsk region, in some areas of Grodno, Mogilev and Vitebsk regions as well as in south-eastern part of Brest region. Agrometeorological conditions are favourable for sowing of cruciferous plant and soil treatment for winter cereal crops sowing. Past heavy rains waterlogged topsoil in the east of Gomel region, field work here is difficult to undertake.
However, moistening of 10 cm topsoil remains poor in large parts of Belarus especially in Brest region and many areas of Vitebsk and Mogilev regions. According to data of meteorological stations Sharkovshchina, Baranovichi and Slavgorod, topsoil is dry. Difficult agrometeorological conditions for soil treatment, sowing and young crops rest in areas with insufficient moistening. In the coming days, agrometeorological situation here will not change significantly. According to preliminary forecast, soil moistening may be better at the end of this week.
