Review of the agrometeorological situation of August 15, 2019
According to recent visual observation data, soil overmoistening is observed in large parts of the country. The most unfavorable agrometeorological situation is observed in the northern region of Belarus with heavy soils. Harvest works, soil treatment for winter and cruciferous plant sowings, flax pulling and fodder conservation are difficult to carry out in the overmoistened areas. Past rains fulfilled moisture content in soil in the south-west part of the country where moisture deficit was registered under root crops and late vegetables.
In the coming days, expected improvement of weather conditions will allow to recommence harvest work. Agrometeorological conditions primarily for termination of harvest work will improve in most of the country. However, machinery work will be difficult to carry out because of overmoistening on heavy soils. With the increase of temperature, agrometeorological conditions will contribute to formation of maize harvest, sugar accumulation in sugar beet-roots.
