Review of the agrometeorological situation of April 10, 2019
Agrometeorological conditions allow sustaining high rate of field works and spring sowing on most of Belarus. According to recent data of visual observations, topsoil of 10 cm is in a moderate moist state. Average soil temperature at depth of 10 cm is +4 +6°С in the north-west and up to +10 +12°С in the south and south-east of the country. However, because of precipitation deficit poor moisture is observed on light soil in some areas of the Republic. In the second decade of April the weather mainly without precipitations will contribute to further moisture loss in the topsoil – areas with pour moisture will increase. Lack of moisture and absence of stable warm will slow germination and emergence of spring crops.
Tillering will continue on winter cereal crops in most of Belarus, stem elongation started in southern areas. Stem growth started on the winter rape in southern part of the country, appearance of inflorescences is registered in certain areas of Brest region. According to the results of track examination made in Brest region, winter cereal crops are in a good state almost on all of the fields (98%), winter rape is also in a good state on 83% of the fields. Good state of winter cereal crops is observed on 65% of the fields in Gomel region, winter rape – on less than 30% of observed fields. Bad conditions and rape killing were registered in Brest region (10%), in Gomel region (17%). In the coming days, development of winter crops will slow again because if drop in temperature.
