Overview of agrometeorological situation of September 30, 2024
In a significant part of the territory of the republic the topsoil is well moistened. Due to the uneven distribution of precipitation and severe desiccation the lack of moisture in the soil persists in most areas of the southeastern half of Belarus and in places in the north-west of the country. According to some weather stations the soil is dry. In such areas the conditions for sowing emergence and further development of winter crops remain difficult. The treatment of desiccated soils is difficult. On the sown areas of winter grain crops grain germination is underway, seedlings appear, in places there is a third leaf, tillering began on the earliest crops. Leaf formation continues in winter rapeseed. In early October conditions for grain germination will improve, the expected short-term rains will replenish the moisture content in the upper layers of the soil.
