The prevailing dry weather is favorable for harvesting potatoes and sugar beets, vegetables, foraging, and raising flax. However, due to the lack of precipitation, areas with insufficient soil moisture are increasing, which complicates the conditions for winter sowing and germination. According to the latest visual observation data, in most areas of the Gomel, Mogilev and Minsk regions, as well as in some areas in the rest of the republic, the upper 10-centimeter soil layer is slightly moistened or dry.
In the coming days, the expected rains will slightly improve soil moisture, mainly in the southeastern regions of the country. Due to the continuing threat of frost, excavated agricultural products should not be left without shelter in the fields. The expected frosts may damage the corn leaves, which will worsen the quality of the harvested silage.
