Overview of agrometeorological situation of September 24, 2024
A prolonged shortage of precipitation leads to further desiccation of the soil, especially in the eastern half of the republic, where atmospheric and soil drought have reached the criterion of a dangerous agrometeorological phenomenon. According to the results of the latest instrumental determination of soil moisture under winter cereals and winter rapeseed in many areas of the eastern half of the country and in places in the Brest region, the reserves of productive moisture in the arable layer are low, in the rest of Belarus they are satisfactory. Only in a number of western regions, where precipitation occurred in mid-September, there are sufficient reserves of productive moisture in the arable soil layer.
The rains expected in the second half of the week should moisten the soil. The agrometeorological conditions for sowing, emergence and further development of winter crops will improve.
