Overview of agrometeorological situation of October 6, 2023
The passing rains replenish the moisture content in the soil across the territory of the republic very unevenly. According to the latest data mainly in the eastern part of Belarus and in a number of districts of the Brest region, insufficient moistening of the upper 10-centimeter soil layer remains. In many areas of the Gomel region, the topsoil remains dry.
In most of the observed fields shoots and a third leaf are observed in winter crops, nodular roots are being formed, tillering has begun in areas sown before September 10. Due to the expected cooling at the end of this week the vegetation of winter crops will slow down. Unstable weather with rains will complicate the conduct of field agricultural work. The expected frosts in the first half of next week may damage the corn leaves which will worsen the quality of the harvested silage. It is recommended not to leave unearthed agricultural products in the fields without shelter.
