Overview of agrometeorological situation of October 3, 2023
Moisture availability of winter crops on the territory of Belarus is very uneven. Good reserves of productive moisture in the arable horizon of the soil under winter cereals and winter rapeseed as well as in fields intended for winter sowing were noted in most districts of Vitebsk, in many districts of Minsk and Grodno regions, as well as in places in Mogilev and in the north of the Brest region. In a significant part of the territory of Belarus satisfactory moisture reserves remain in the arable soil layer, in most areas of Gomel, in the southwest of Mogilev, in some western regions of Minsk and Brest regions moisture reserves are low. The lack of moisture is a limiting factor for the germination of grain, the emergence of seedlings and the further development of winter grain crops. The rains expected in the first decade of October will replenish the moisture content in the soil. At the same time conditions for harvesting operations will worsen due to unstable weather.
