Overview of agrometeorological situation of October 10, 2023
The past rains have most significantly replenished the soil moisture content in the northern half of Belarus. According to visual observations, the topsoil in most of the territory of the republic is well moistened, in the east of the Vitebsk region it is waterlogged. At the same time in many areas of the southern and south-eastern part of the country where there is a shortage of precipitation at a depth of 10 cm the soil is still poorly moistened or dry.
In most areas of grain crops a third leaf is observed, tillering and the formation of nodal roots is underway. Seedlings appeared on the plots sown in the last five days of September. An increase in the temperature regime expected in the second half of this week will contribute to the development of winter crops.
Due to unstable weather with precipitation in the near future the conditions for harvesting will not develop in the best way. Due to the expected frosts in the coming night one shouldn’t leave unprotected agricultural products in the fields.
