The amount of effective heat accumulated since the beginning of the growing season is sufficient for the start of heading in cereals and the appearance of inflorescences in perennial leguminous grasses. According to observational data, many meteorological stations have recorded the appearance of inflorescences in alfalfa and clover, indicating that the grasses are ready for the first cutting. The unstable weather expected until the end of May will complicate forage harvesting, particularly haymaking operations.
The upper 10-centimeter layer of soil across most of the republic is well moistened. In many southwestern regions, as well as locally in eastern Belarus, weak moisture levels persist in the upper soil layer. In the western and southern districts of the Brest region, prolonged rainfall deficits have led to complete desiccation of the upper 10-centimeter soil layer, which complicates the emergence of heat-loving crop seedlings and the implementation of agrotechnical measures for crop maintenance. In the coming days, the agrometeorological situation in this area will not change significantly.
