Overview of agrometeorological situation of May 21, 2021
Intensive rains that took place in the second decade of May in most of the republic's territory significantly increased the moisture content in the soil. According to the results of the instrumental determination of soil moisture, carried out on May 18, the reserves of productive moisture in most regions of Belarus are good and increased for the growth and development of agricultural crops. Heavy rains in recent days have increased the area with waterlogged soil in the northeastern half of the country. Satisfactory reserves of productive moisture at the time of determination of soil moisture were noted under winter grain crops only by the meteorological stations Brest, Zhitkovichi and Lyntupy.
According to visual observations on the morning of May 21, almost throughout the entire territory of Vitebsk, Mogilev and Gomel regions, in other regions - in some places the upper 10 centimeter soil layer is highly and excessively moistened, which makes it difficult to carry out field agricultural work.
