Overview of agrometeorological situation of March 1, 2024
The unusually warm weather accelerated the destruction of the snow cover and contributed to the thawing of the soil. According to the latest observation data, snow in the fields persists only in places in the central and north-eastern regions of the Mogilev region. In a significant part of the country the soil has thawed but it is still waterlogged. In the Brest region, in places on light soils, the upper layer dried out to a moderately moist state, and soil cultivation became possible here. A month earlier than usual the vegetation of winter crops resumed in the south-west of the country, farms began fertilizing. In the coming week, due to the expected decrease in the temperature regime soil maturation will slow down.
