Frequent rains are impeding harvesting operations, haymaking and agricultural activities such as crop maintenance. Due to heavy precipitation soil oversaturation is observed particularly in the northeastern region of Belarus. According to the latest data, on the southern part of the country cereal crops are ripening with waxy maturity on the main fields. Several meteorological stations report that winter crops and spring barley have reached full grain maturity. Grain moisture levels on ripening crops are generally high.
In the near future, harvesting conditions are expected to remain quite challenging as forecasted rains will continue to moisten the stems, reduce the working time of combine harvesters and may lead to an increase in areas with soil oversaturation.
