Overview of agrometeorological situation of January 12, 2023
The cold snap observed on the territory of Belarus in the second five days of January should not negatively affect the condition of winter grain crops in the main massifs. The soil temperature at the depth of the tillering node of grain crops did not fall below -3 -6°C, which does not pose a threat to plants. At the same time, damage to winter rapeseed, as the least frost-resistant crop, is not excluded in the north-eastern half of the republic.
According to the results of the snow survey conducted on January 10, a small snow cover was observed in the fields in most of Belarus, there was no snow in the southern regions and in the west. The soil is mostly slightly frozen, in the extreme south-west, in some central and north-western regions of the republic – thawed.
In the near future, low temperatures that pose a threat to wintering crops are not expected on the territory of the republic.
