Overview of agrometeorological situation of February 27, 2026

Under the influence of the established thawing weather the snow is melting and compacting. Nevertheless, in most of Belarus, a deep snow cover remains on the fields with winter crops. Only in the Brest region, the western part of the Grodno region, and the south of the Minsk region is there noticeably less snow in the fields.
Soil freezing is generally weak. In a large part of the Gomel region, the soil is thawed. Mainly in the southwestern part of the republic, the depth of soil freezing is 20-37 cm.
In most of the republic, under the snow cover, the soil temperature at the depth of the tillering node of winter grain crops is close to 0°C. Under such conditions, plants consume more nutrients for respiration, which leads to their weakening.
The predominance of thawing weather until the end of February and the beginning of March will contribute to the melting of the snow cover. In the southwestern region of Belarus, the snow cover will disappear.
