Overview of agrometeorological situation of August 5, 2026
In July, the predominance of moderate temperatures and sufficient soil moisture created favorable agrometeorological conditions for potato yield formation. Only in a number of southern regions did a soil moisture deficit persist under potato crops.
The average tuber weight per plant at the end of July was somewhat higher than last year's figures for the same period. Each plant had 8–16 tubers, with 25% to 60% of the tubers having reached normal size.
According to the latest data, natural wilting of the tops has begun on early potato varieties. The condition assessments of potato plantings are generally good, and in places in Vitebsk Region they are satisfactory due to potato damage from diseases. The average soil temperature at a depth of 10 cm over most of the republic rose to +24 +27 °C, which is above the optimal values.
In the coming days, due to the hot weather, the conditions for potato tuber growth will not be the most favorable.
