Overview of agrometeorological situation of August 25, 2023

In most of areas of the southern half and in places in the north-west of the republic, the upper 10-centimeter soil layer is poorly moistened, according to individual weather stations in Brest, Gomel and in the south of the Grodno region – dry. Mainly in the north-eastern part of the country, there is a good moistening of the upper soil layer, which is favorable for the emergence of winter rape seedlings and further plant development. In the observed fields sown before August 20, winter rapeseed has mostly risen, leaf formation has begun in places.
In the coming days, the expected rains in most areas will replenish the moisture content in the soil. Agrometeorological conditions for preparing the soil for sowing winter cereals and the development of cruciferous crops will improve. At the same time, rains will complicate the harvesting of cereals, the completion of harvesting of grain crops.
