Overview of agrometeorological situation of August 22, 2023
The rains that have passed in recent days have replenished soil moisture reserves mainly in the north-eastern part of the republic and in some southern regions. According to the results of instrumental determination of soil moisture in most areas under potatoes, root crops, corn and perennial grasses productive moisture reserves remain sufficient. However, in places in the southern regions, moisture reserves are low.
According to visual observations in some southern regions of Belarus, the upper 10-centimeter layer of soil is dry. This complicates the cultivation of the soil for sowing winter cereals and the completion of sowing winter rapeseed. In the coming days in most of the territory the weather will allow maintaining good rates of forage harvesting, will contribute to the completion of bread harvesting.
