Climate characteristic of summer 2019

Average air temperature during summer season was +18,6°С that is 1,2°С above climate normal. Positive temperature anomaly was registered throughout the country. The warmest weather was registered in Grodno and Brest regions with the highest deviations from normal (+1,9°С), the smallest deviations – in Mogilev and Vitebsk regions (+0,7°С). 
 
Deviations of average air temperature from climate normal during summer period in the Republic of Belarus
Amount of hot days ranged from 26 to 54 (with +25°С and higher) under normal 22-48 days. Amount of heat days with maximum temperature +30°С and higher ranged from 2 to 20 days, while normal is 1-6 days.
Maximum air temperature was +36,4°С (meteorological station Bragin on July, 1). Minimum (+2,9°С) temperature was registered at the meteorological station Ezerishche on July, 13 and in Bragin on August, 5.
 
 
Average air temperature for decades and climate normal in the Republic of Belarus

Summer temperature was irregular. Average air temperature of the first month was +21,0°С that is 4,6°С above climate normal. Such warm June was registered for the first time in the post-war period in Brest, Gomel and Grodno regions. In Minsk and Vitebsk regions such warm June is once every 37 years, in Mogilev region – every 25 years. All three decades of month exceeded climate normal. Monthly temperature records were exceeded at many meteorological stations. Maximum air temperature (+34,7°С) was registered at the meteorological station Zhlobin on June, 12. Minimum air temperature was registered (6,0°С) at the meteorological station Lyntupy on June, 3.
Average air temperature of July was +17,1°С that is 1,3°С below climate normal. Such weather and even cooler is once every 3-4 years during the last 75 years in July, it is registered for the first time since 2001. The month was characterized be irregular temperature. First and second decades were cold. Average air temperature during third decade was 0,5°С above climate normal for decade. Maximum air temperature was registered at the meteorological station Bragin on July, 1 (+36,4°С) that updated absolute temperature maximum at this station. Minimum air temperature was registered at the meteorological station Ezerishche on July, 13 (+2,9°С).
Average air temperature in August was +17,7°С that is 0,4ºС above climate normal. Air temperature in August was irregular. First decade was cold and the second and third – warmer than usually. Absolute maximum of air temperature (+33,3°С) was registered in Bragin on August, 13. Absolute minimum of air temperature (+2,9°С) was registered in Bragin on August, 5.

212 mm of precipitations fell out on average across the country during summer season that is 91% of climate normal. The biggest amount of precipitations was registered in Vitebsk region – 254 mm or 104% of climate normal. The smallest amount of precipitations was registered in Grodno region – 168 mm or 72% of climate normal.

Wet and dry periods were registered during this season. June was characterized by precipitation deficit: 44,2 mm of precipitations (55% of climate normal) on average across the country. 91,1 mm and 76,8 mm (107% and 115% of climate normal) were registered in July and August respectively. 1,5-2 climate norma were registered at certain meteorological stations in August.

Rains were mostly torrential with thunderstorms and hail sometimes. Sometimes rains were heavy and reached criteria of dangerous phenomenon on certain days. Daily maximum of precipitations for 3 months was registered at the meteorological station Ezerishche – 113 mm that is 127% of climate normal for the observation point in July.
