Climate characteristic of June 2019

Average air temperature in June was +21,0°С across Belarus that is 4,6°С above climate normal. Such warm June was registered for the first time since the Second World War in the territory of Grodno, Brest and Gomel regions. Such warm June is once every 37 years in Minsk and Vitebsk regions, every 25 years – in Mogilev region. The largest deviations from climate normal was registered in Brest region (+5,1°С on average across the region), the smallest – in Vitebsk and Mogilev regions (+4,2°С on average across the region).

All three decades of month exceeded climate normal. 2nd decade was the warmest when average air temperature exceeded climate normal 6,4°С. Air temperature in the 1st decade was 4,7°С above climate normal, in the 3rd decade - 2,8°С.

Monthly temperature records were exceeded at many meteorological stations. Maximum temperature (+34,7°С) was registered at the meteorological station Zhlobin on June, 12.
Minimum temperature (6,0°С) was registered at the meteorological station Lyntupy on June, 3.
44 mm of precipitation fell out on average this month that is 55% of climate normal. Least of precipitations was in the territory of Vitebsk region – 35 mm on average across the region (39% of climate normal). Most of precipitations was in the territory of Gomel region – 56 mm on average across the region (73% of climate normal).

Shortage of precipitations was registered during 3 decades – 29%, 42% and 89% of climate normal respectively. Most of precipitations per day (49 mm) was registered at the meteorological station Pinsk on June, 20. Rains were mostly torrential with thunderstorms and hail.

Wind speed increased up to 15 m/s on certain days. Maximum wind speed (23 m/s) was registered at the meteorological station Zhitkovichi on June, 21, meteorological station Bobruysk and Oktyabr on June, 27.
