"January is considered the coldest month of a year. But this year the monthly temperature averaged +1.2°C, which was close to the temperatures of March. It was 5.3 degrees above the climatic norm. This is the warmest January on record in Belarus. Before that, Belarus witnessed the temperature record in January 2020 with the air temperature averaging +1.1°C," Belhydromet said.
"All three ten-day periods of the month were warm. The warmest was the third decade with an average temperature of 8 degrees above the norm. Temperatures of the first and second ten-day periods exceeded the norm by 4.4 and 3.4 degrees, respectively," the climatologists noted.
