Seminar on the outcomes of the joint board of the Union State Committee: Cooperation in the Field of Hydrometeorology and Environmental Pollution Monitoring

On 17 December 2025, a seminar was held on the outcomes of the joint board of the Union State Committee for Hydrometeorology and Monitoring of Environmental Pollution. The event took place via videoconference and brought together leading specialists from Belhydromet and Roshydromet, including:
FSBI  «NPO «Typhoon»;
FSBI «SRC «Planeta»;
The Republican Centre for Emergency Response and Civil Protection of the Ministry for Emergency Situations;
Belhydromet.

The seminar aimed to discuss issues related to organising the collection and storage of data on deep convection systems over the contiguous territories of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. The agenda included the following topics:

- Short-term forecasting and nowcasting of intense convective processes and phenomena: modern approaches and solutions for developing technology to issue new high-resolution information products in support of decision-making for hazardous weather warnings;

- The lightning detection system of SRC «Planeta»;

- Rapidly developing convective phenomena during the warm season and the lead time of warnings.

The matters discussed are of significant importance for enhancing the efficiency of forecasting hazardous meteorological phenomena and ensuring environmental safety within the territory of the Union State.
