Belhydromet at the "Bookids. Professions" family festival: introducing children to the world of meteorology and ecology

On June 6 and 7, specialists from Belhydromet took part in the family festival "Bookids. Professions," which was held at the Central Botanical Garden. The event gave children and their parents a wealth of vivid impressions and new knowledge!

What is Bookids?

Bookids is a unique mini-metropolis for young explorers, where every child can:
- get a "work record book";
- apply for a "credit card";
- earn bukids — a game currency;
- spend their earned bukids on shopping, entertainment, education, or charity.

The festival creates conditions for children to get an early introduction to various professions, develops financial literacy, and teaches them to make informed decisions.

The Belhydromet team prepared an engaging program to introduce young visitors and their parents to the world of meteorology and ecology. We believe that science can be interesting and accessible to everyone!

Our specialists developed interactive formats that engage the learning process and spark curiosity. At the Belhydromet booth, workshops were held that allowed each participant to:
- feel like a real meteorologist;
- try on the role of an ecologist;
- learn how the hydrometeorological service works.

At our booth, young visitors and their parents were able to:
- measure meteorological parameters and record data in an observer's diary — just like professional meteorologists do;

- make their own weather vane pinwheel and learn how to use it to determine wind direction;

- conduct experiments with litmus paper to understand how specialists measure environmental acidity and monitor the state of the environment.

Participating in the "Bookids. Professions" festival is an excellent platform for promoting science and fostering environmental culture in the younger generation. Through play and practice, children:
- begin to better understand natural processes;
- learn to take responsibility for the environment;
- may start thinking about a future career in science or ecology.

We thank the festival organizers for the invitation and the opportunity to share knowledge with such an inquisitive audience! Special thanks to all the visitors of our booth: it was a joy to see so many interested eyes and hear so many thoughtful questions.

See you again at future science events!
