Autumn will rock the temperature seesaw

Autumn weather this year is extremely changeable. Thus, if in the first half of the current week a sunny September with 20-degree marks will look into the Belarusian lands, then already in the second half – a grey and cool October will come into its own.

In the next two days (7-8 October), weather conditions in Belarus will mainly be determined by an area of high atmospheric pressure, so predominantly dry and sunny weather is expected; only on 8 October (Thursday), in places in unstable air, cumulonimbus clouds will develop, from which small short-term rains will fall. At the same time, a cyclone will form over France, which will move towards north-eastern Europe and carry warm air from southern latitudes with it. In this connection, already in the afternoon of 7 October (Wednesday), in the south and south-west of the republic, thermometers will rise to +20 +22°C. The peak of heat advection will fall on 8 October (Thursday), when the territory of our country will be in the warm sector of this cyclone and the prevailing daytime temperature background across the republic will be +18 +25°C, only in places in the north and north-east will it be no higher than +15 +18°C.

On 9 October (Friday), the synoptic situation will change: the centre of the Atlantic cyclone will shift to the Baltic Sea, and the territory of Belarus will be under the influence of its cold atmospheric front. As a result, rains of varying intensity will fall in most districts, and with fluctuations in atmospheric pressure the wind will intensify to the criteria of a strong gusty wind. At the same time, following the frontal boundary, a cool air mass will begin to arrive from north-western Europe, which will lead to a decrease in the temperature background, and by the middle of the day it will be no higher than +10 +16°C, in the south-east in places up to +18°C.

Subsequently (10-12 October), the territory of the republic will continue to be in cyclonic circulation, so unstable weather with rains will persist. But despite this, the temperature background will be near the climatic norm, in places even slightly exceeding it.

The only thing that remains unchanged is the incredible riot of colours of the golden autumn.
