During the past period (May 26–28), a decline in water levels prevailed on the country's rivers, as a result of which conditions for river transport operations worsened on the Sozh River near the town of Slavgorod.
As of May 29, water levels on the rivers are generally decreasing, with a daily rate of 1–16 cm. A rise in water levels is observed only on the Neman River near the city of Grodno and on some small rivers, with an intensity of mainly 1–6 cm per day.
On the Viliya River near the agrotown of Sheshitsy and on the Iput River (a tributary of the Sozh) near the town of Dobrush, water levels exceed the floodplain inundation thresholds.
On the Neman River near Grodno, and on the Sozh River near Krichev and Slavgorod, water levels are below the navigation-limiting thresholds.
Water temperatures range from 12°C to 20°C in rivers, and from 12°C to 18°C in reservoirs.
Over the next five days, water levels on the rivers will generally continue to decline. As a result, on the Viliya River near the agrotown of Sheshitsy and on the Iput River (a tributary of the Sozh) near Dobrush, the water will recede into the river channel. On the Western Dvina River near Vitebsk and on the Dnieper River near Mogilev, water levels will fall below the thresholds at which difficulties in river transport operations arise.
