Overview of hydrological situation of March 24, 2023

 
In the past day, the Polota river has been opened, ice flow is observed here, Zapadnaya Dvina near Vitebsk and Verkhnedvinsk, as well as its tributary, the Obol River, have been cleared of ice formations. 
As of March 24, glaciation with polynyas and edges persists on Zapadnaya Dvina near the town of Surazh. On most of the lakes and reservoirs of the country, there is an ice break with polynyas, edges and divorces. It is extremely dangerous to go out on the ice!
On the rivers there is an increase in water levels, the greatest (up to 70 cm per day) rises are noted in the basin of Zapadnaya Dvina and the Dnieper above Mogilev, on the rest of the country's rivers, as well as in the lower reaches of the Dnieper, the daily intensity of growth is 1-14 cm. The water is located on the floodplain on most rivers of the Berezina, Sozh and Pripyat basins, some rivers of the Neman, Vilia and Dnieper basins.
Water levels exceed dangerously high marks on the Pripyat near the town of Petrikov by 17 cm, its tributary to the Ptich river near the village of Persha Slobodka at 1 cm and a tributary of the Sozh river Pronya at village Letyagi by 48 cm. Water levels are close to dangerously high levels on the Pripyat near the village of Chernichi, its tributaries the rivers Tsna near the village of Dyatlovichi and Sluch near settlement Lenin. 
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, river flooding is observed in a number of districts of the Gomel, Mogilev and Minsk regions, as well as in the Lioznensky district of the Vitebsk region.
In the coming days, the increase in water levels on the rivers will continue, in Pripyat near the village of Chernichi, the water level will reach a dangerously high level. The Zapadnaya Dvina will be opened in the area of the town of Surazh. The melting and destruction of the ice cover will continue in the reservoirs of the country.
