As of December 26, there are no ice formations on most of the country's rivers. Submerged land-fast ice and ice drift are noted on the Western Dvina on the Polotsk – Verkhnedvinsk section, its individual tributaries, the Dnieper on the Orsha – Rechitsa section, the Berezina near Bobruisk, the Sozh on the Slavgorod – Gomel section, and some of its tributaries. Icing with wormholes and edges are kept on the Western Dvina near the town of Surazh and agrotown Ulla, the Sozh at the town of Krichev, its tributary to the river Besyads. The destruction of the ice cover continues on lakes and reservoirs, spaces with an open water surface are increasing, the ice is pressing against the shore. It is extremely dangerous to go out on the ice.
The rivers are dominated by an increase in water levels with a daily intensity of 1-24 cm.
In most of the rivers of the Berezina and Sozh basins, in some sections of the rivers of the Neman, the Vilia, the Dnieper and the Pripyat basins, water levels exceed the water outlet marks on the floodplain.
On the Sozh tributary of the Pronya River near the village Letyagi the water level exceeds a dangerously high mark.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, flooding of bridges and sections of highways is noted in some areas of the Vitebsk, Gomel and Mogilev regions.
In the coming days, the increase in water levels on the rivers will continue, as a result of which water will reach the floodplain in some sections of the rivers. On the tributaries of the Pripyat, the rivers Ptich near the village of Persha Slobodka and Sluch near agrotown Lenin water levels will approach dangerously high levels.
