Overview of agrometeorological situation of October 1, 2026

Heavy rains that fell in the third decade of September significantly replenished soil moisture reserves over most of Belarus, and in places on heavy-textured soils, predominantly in the north-east of the republic, led to waterlogging. Nevertheless, the moisture deficit noted in the southern region was not completely eliminated. According to the results of instrumental determination of soil moisture, on most of the observed fields there is quite enough productive moisture for the growth and development of winter grain crops and rapeseed.
In the near future, predominantly precipitation-free weather will make it possible to maintain good rates of harvesting work. At the same time, due to the expected frosts, there may be a risk of damage to harvested agricultural produce left in the fields without cover.
