The results of the re-growth survey conducted in late February confirmed that winter crops on the observed fields maintain normal viability. In most selected samples of winter cereals, rapeseed and perennial grasses, complete re-growth was observed or thinning didn't exceed natural dieback. Slightly increased thinning was recorded in places in the northeastern half of the country, caused by prolonged occurrence of a deep snow cover on slightly frozen soil.
Under the influence of the established thawing weather the snow cover in the southwest of Belarus has destroyed. In most of the country, however, a fairly deep snow still remains on the fields – from 15-25 cm to 30-40 cm. In the first ten days of March, the persistence of thawing weather will contribute to the further destruction of the snow cover.
