Overview of agrometeorological situation of July 22, 2026

Ongoing rains are increasing soil moisture content. According to the results of instrumental determinations of soil moisture under late agricultural crops, the reserves of productive moisture in the soil are good on most areas. Sufficient moisture availability in the main fields, combined with low temperatures, favors the formation and growth of potato tubers, root crops, and the regrowth of grasses after mowing. However, for heat-loving crops (corn, buckwheat, open-field vegetables), the temperature regime will be below optimal in the near future. Rains are slowing down grain drying and the progress of harvesting operations, and may trigger the development of diseases in crops. According to observation data as of the morning of July 22, the upper 10-centimeter soil layer is heavily waterlogged in some areas in the northwestern part and in the east of the republic, which complicates the operation of machinery in the fields.
